Adidas World Cup ball tech to be used in Qatar Stars League 2nd July 2026 By Andy Elliott --> July 2 – The Qatar Stars League will use the same ball technology as the FIFA World Cup after unveiling its new official match ball for the upcoming 2026/27 season in partnership with Adidas. The ball will be created on an identical Adidas CONEXT PRO platform – incorporating the same four-panel aerodynamic construction seen at World Cup – with the manufacturer claiming it offers more consistent flight, greater stability and improved control. The design has been tailored specifically for the QSL, featuring a pearl white finish with maroon and gold detailing based on the league’s branding. The launch also signals a return to normality after an unprecedented interruption to last season. The league was temporarily suspended earlier this year when Qatar halted all sporting activity amid escalating regional security concerns following military action involving Iran, Israel and the US. Fixtures eventually resumed after the suspension was lifted, allowing the campaign to be completed. Al Sadd went on to win the league. They have a gifted squad loaded with Qatari stars and familiar faces from European football. Qatari poster boy Akram Afif, who scored a hattrick to carry Qatar to the 2023 Asian Cup title, tallied 25 goal involvements in 22 games last season, joined by former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino up front. The new ball will make its competitive debut when the 2026/27 Qatar Stars League season gets underway later this month, with Al Sadd looking to defend their title for a fourth straight season.
