In his role, King will leverage his deep roots in professional golf and provide valuable expertise in evolving organizations to help propel transformation as the League works to complete a recapitalization transaction (the “Transaction”) with BC Partners Advisors L.P., the credit business of BC Partners (“BC Partners Credit”), that will bring LIV Golf’s next era to fruition. King’s appointment comes as LIV Golf remains laser focused on advancing its conversations with players regarding their participation in the go-forward League. With BC Partners Credit’s initial investment secured and the process for player commitments well underway, the League is on track to secure the support needed to complete the Transaction, and planning for the 2027 season is underway. King is expected to recruit, build and serve as Chairman of LIV Golf’s Advisory Board for the next era of the League. “Mark is a proven leader with an extraordinary track record of transforming businesses, building iconic brands, and creating community,” said LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil. “His deep understanding and relationships in and around the professional golf industry, combined with his expertise in driving innovation and building high-performing organizations, makes him a valuable addition as an advisor to our team at this pivotal moment. Mark's perspective and guidance will further enhance our leadership team as we build a sustainable, player-focused global tour.” King brings more than three decades of experience and deep expertise in golf and the broader sports industry, having previously served as President and CEO of TaylorMade and President of Adidas North America. He led TaylorMade to become the most profitable golf company in the world, catapulting the business from $300 million to more than $1.85 billion in sales. During King’s tenure at Adidas, the company doubled its market share in under three years, tripled sales over four years, doubled headcount, and maintained strong employee retention. “Having spent much of my career in golf, I believe there is a tremendous opportunity for LIV Golf to establish itself as a competitive and enduring force in the game,” said King. “Competition drives innovation, creates opportunities, and ultimately makes the entire ecosystem stronger. The team at LIV Golf has already demonstrated its ability to attract world-class talent, break attendance records on multiple continents, engage fans across five continents, and deliver a differentiated experience. With a renewed business model that puts players at the center, I see significant potential for the League to build on that foundation, and create lasting value for players, fans, and partners alike. I look forward to working with Scott and the team at LIV Golf.” With committed financing from BC Partners Credit, LIV Golf has continued to achieve each of the critical milestones established for this stage of the process. These achievements provide a strong foundation to complete the Transaction and advance the League into its next era. “Mark's appointment is another important step forward as we continue to build momentum toward the next era of LIV Golf,” said Ted Goldthorpe, Partner and Head of BC Partners Credit. “His proven ability to scale businesses, unlock growth opportunities, and create lasting value will be instrumental as we work alongside the League's leadership team to execute on our shared vision. We remain confident in the progress being made toward completing the Transaction and the opportunity to establish a strong foundation for LIV Golf's long-term success.” In addition to King’s experience at TaylorMade and Adidas, he currently serves as Executive Chairman and Interim CEO of Jack in the Box. Prior to his current role, King served as the CEO of Xponential Fitness and Taco Bell. He also previously served as a member of the Board of Directors for Party City and is an acclaimed expert on innovation and culture. As the world’s golf league, LIV Golf blends world-class competition with entertainment and culture to redefine the fan experience, create a lasting impact across its host markets and communities, and grow the game for a new era of players and fans worldwide. The League is constantly innovating to expand team golf, provide meaningful pathways for players, and create new value within the golf ecosystem. In its 2026 season, LIV Golf featured 57 players from 21 countries competing across 10 countries and five continents, setting multiple national attendance records.
