The personal finance app (20M+ users) is doubling down on the WNBA: • Already active with multiple teams (Dream, Wings, Sparks) • Now one of the largest partnerships in Atlanta Dream history • Timing aligns with the launch of “Genius” — their AI financial assistant But here’s what stands out: This is not just sponsorship. This is distribution + positioning + impact. Albert is using the WNBA to: • Reach a highly engaged, growing audience • Build trust around financial wellness • Activate locally through education + community programs We’re seeing a clear pattern: FinTechs are no longer just buying visibility. They’re buying relevance inside culture. And women’s sports is becoming one of the most underrated channels to do exactly that. More deal info: https://lnkd.in/dV65s_eN 𝗣.𝗦. In markets like Azerbaijan or broader CIS, that trust layer doesn't exist yet. Sponsorship without financial literacy infrastructure behind it is just logo placement with extra steps. The Albert play is smart because the WNBA audience already leans toward financial empowerment narratives. That's rare. Most fintechs in emerging markets don't have that ready-made alignment — they have to build it from scratch, usually through education-first partnerships rather than sports deals. The pattern to watch: will "Genius" (their AI assistant) actually convert that brand warmth into activated users, or does the partnership stay at awareness level? Like Reply 1 Reaction Allan Duarte 4mo Report this comment The timing tells the real story. Albert launches Genius - an AI that moves your money, pays your bills, adjusts your transfers - and immediately locks in a 4-year WNBA deal across three teams. That's not brand building. That's solving the trust gap that kills AI finance products before they scale. An AI that autonomously handles your cash flow needs a level of consumer trust that no performance marketing campaign can buy. Sports sponsorship at this stage is a CAC bet: the cost of jersey patches is cheaper than the cost of convincing 20M users to let an AI touch their bank account without a trust anchor.
