Most complaints concerned restricted views from some seats, but there were also concerns about the sound system, video boards and protection from the rain. Advertisement First impressions of the new Highmark Stadium were not entirely positive Although the vast majority of fans were impressed by the new Highmark Stadium , the first event also revealed several problems. The biggest issue concerned restricted views from some seats . Photos shared on social media showed parts of the field obstructed by railings, structural elements, cables and other infrastructure. Some fans claimed they had not expected such restrictions when purchasing their seats through the Personal Seat License (PSL) system. © Buffalo Bills Stadium Updates The club insists, however, that the issue affects only a small number of seats. According to Bills representatives, fewer than 1% of PSL holders reported visibility issues . They also pointed out that some of the photos circulating online show seats that will not be sold during NFL games. They may instead be used for other events, such as concerts. The Bills have promised to review individual complaints and make changes wherever necessary. Sound system and organization of new Bills stadium also need improvement Fans also raised concerns about other aspects of the first event. There were complaints about the sound system, the size of the screens and the performance of the roof . During the practice, some spectators were also soaked by heavy rain. This sparked a debate about the level of protection from precipitation promised by the club. According to promotional materials, the roof is designed to protect around 65% of the seats. Bills representatives explained that the practice was also a test of the venue . The sound system was operating under conditions different from those during a game, while additional speakers had been installed on the field to simulate the atmosphere of a match. The club now has several weeks to make improvements before the first official game at the new stadium. Tens of thousands of finishing items still to be addressed at new Highmark Stadium The scale of the finishing work following the first event is nevertheless significant. Bills representatives said that the list of items requiring improvement or completion contains around 27,000 entries . This does not mean that there are problems with the stadium’s basic operation. The club stresses that the venue was delivered on schedule and is ready to host games. Some finishing work, however, will continue during the season. © Bill Wippert, Buffalo Bills The new stadium covers approximately 1.6 million square feet and occupies a 242-acre site. With modern stands, a natural grass field and extensive infrastructure, it is intended to provide the Bills with conditions very different from those at their previous home. A symbolic change for the Bills The opening of the new Highmark Stadium also carried a symbolic significance. For decades, questions had been raised about the Bills’ future and whether the club would remain in Western New York. Ultimately, the new stadium was built on the other side of Abbott Road, directly next to the previous venue. The old Highmark Stadium has already been almost completely demolished . Fans attending the first practice could therefore see the remains of the previous stadium while entering the Bills’ new home for the first time. For many of them, it was both a nostalgic moment and a symbol of the beginning of a new chapter. As club officials and players emphasized, one era in Buffalo Bills history has come to an end, while another has just begun. Advertisement
