The Buffalo Bills signed hometown linebacker Joe Andreessen to a two-year, $5 million extension through the 2028 season, with $3 million guaranteed, keeping the special-teams standout and reserve inside linebacker in Buffalo. Andreessen — a former undrafted minicamp invite who became a core special-teamer and showed athletic upside — was repped by Generation Sports Group on the deal.
The Buffalo Bills have signed fan favorite home-grown linebacker Joe Andreessen to a new multi-year deal, per a report by Tom Pelissero. It’s a two-year extension keeps Andreessen as a member of the Bills through the 2028 season. The deal is reportedly worth a total of $5 million and includes $3M guaranteed: The Bills and LB Joe Andreessen have agreed to a two-year, $5 million extension with $3M guaranteed, per source. The Buffalo native is staying home on a deal negotiated by his agency Generation Sports Group. — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) October 3, 2026 What a story this is. Andreessen was one of the final invites to Bills rookie minicamp back in 2024. Not only did he get the training camp invite afterward, he starred in his very first preseason with 14 tackles, eight stops, and a fumble returned for a touchdown in three exhibition outings. He’s been a mainstay on special teams ever since, and in 2025, Andreessen asserted himself as a true special team ace. The Lancaster native finished second in the NFL with 23 special-teams tackles and already has five through three games. What’s vital about Andreessen too is — he serves as a highly athletic inside linebacker reserve too. At 6’0” and 240 pounds at the University at Buffalo Pro Day, Andreessen ran 4.65 and had a 38” vertical and 122” broad jump, the latter two measurements are elite level for a second-level defender. Andreessen turned 26 in Feburary. He’s in the prime of his NFL career. From tailgating in the Bills parking lots in a Matt Milano jersey to a second contract with his hometown team. Awesome for Andreessen.
