CAA Eleven to lose UEFA contract with PIF rivalling Relevent in rights battle 14th July 2026 By Andy Elliott --> July 14 – CAA Eleven, the sales agency set up in 2012 to market UEFA’s newly consolidated men’s national team competition rights exclusively, is set to lose its contract at the end of the 2028 European Championship. In May UEFA issued a tender for rights to the 2028-29 to 2035-36 period. The rights included 2032 and 2036 Euros, as well as the European Qualifiers and UEFA Nations League (including the finals). In June Sport Business reported that the tender had been narrowed down to CAA Eleven, Relevent Sports (not to be confused with sister agency Relevent Football Partners which handles UEFA’s club competition sales), and relative newcomers Sela, owned by Saudi Arabia’s PIF. After further presentations to UEFA the field has been narrowed down with CAA Eleven dropped. Sela is a new entrant to the European rights sales business. Founded in 1997, Sela has built a broad-based entertainment business that has sports rights, player agency and events at its core. It cut its sports marketing teeth as the agency for the Saudi Premier League, is a premium partner and shirt sponsor of Newcastle United in the Premier League, and is in prime position to pick up the Asian Football Confederation’s rights for the 2029 to 2036 cycle. From 2028-29, UEFA will bring in its new European Qualifiers format with a tiered structure that has a ‘League 1’ composed of 36 top teams and a ‘League 2’ made up of the remaining Nations League teams. League 1 will be made up of three groups of 12 teams, and every team will play six home-or-away matches against six different opponents. UEFA’s executive committee next meet in September when a decision on the rights seller is expected. Contact the writer of this story at [email protected]
