Eddie Hearn understandably objected to premature reports Tuesday which suggested it had been agreed by all parties the showdown would take place on November 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Particularly as two crucial parties, Hearn and Joshua, had done no such thing. They want the fight in the UK. Everyone else, it appears , is happy enough for it to head Stateside. Hearn has never once said that the bout happening in America would be a deal breaker. What they need is new terms for what he and Joshua claim is a change to what was originally agreed. It's understood that latest process is still ongoing. It's been claimed that chief financier Turki Alalshikh, with guidance from streaming giants Netflix, wanted the fight to begin during peak US hours to generate the biggest possible broadcast audience. Fans on both sides of the Atlantic – UK fans wanting it in UK, US fans not appearing to want it at all – roundly objected. But it's been the squabbling behind the scenes that has been the most irksome, however. ‘I brokered the deal,’ says Dana White. ‘No, you didn’t,’ says Eddie Hearn. ‘Neither of you did,’ says Turki Alalshikh. ‘Just get on with it,’ says Frank Warren. ‘I’ll fight him right now,’ says Tyson Fury. ‘I’ll fight when I’m ready,’ says Anthony Joshua. BoxingScene understands that the contracts initially signed by both Fury and Joshua earlier in the year were out of sync in two crucial areas: The date of the fight and the location. Which is perplexing. Placing the boxers in the same place at the same time is arguably the most important factor when it comes to staging a fight. It was apparent, as early as April, that the hymn sheets from which they’d been instructed to sing had wildly different lyrics. Fury, over-excited after returning from his layoff to outpoint Arslanbek Makhmudov inside Tottentham Hotspur Stadium, demanded that Joshua get in the ring for some pushing and shoving to promote what he believed to be a done deal. Joshua, watching from the sidelines, declined. Alalshikh, meanwhile, was left a little disappointed that his promise of a big announcement had not come to fruition. And so began the latest – and surely longest – chapter of a saga that should have reached its end several years ago. White quickly got involved, claiming ownership of the promotion, and stating he was the man who brokered deals for both the location and broadcast rights.  Hearn, who like Warren previously admitted he couldn't be lead promoter due to his deal with DAZN, this week threatened to sue the Zuffa boss for “using my client to do a venue deal”.  White soon responded. “I stopped listening to Eddie Hearn three months ago,” he said. “Is there anybody more full of shit than this guy? Come on.” When pressed on whether an official announcement about the showdown is forthcoming, White said: “You might want to ask the promoters of the fight. Am I promoting the fight? Oh, okay.” Why anyone would admit to overseeing this chaos is unknown.
