ADVERTISEMENT Nashville Predators Tap ViewLift for New DTC Service, Pairing Streaming With Scripps Sports Broadcast Deal By: Brandon Costa, Director of Digital • Posted on: August 26, 2026 • 3 minute read ADVERTISEMENT Team-owned platform will stream every locally carried Predators game beginning this season as Nashville builds a new OTA-plus-DTC distribution model The Nashville Predators are taking greater control of their local-media distribution, partnering with ViewLift to launch a team-owned direct-to-consumer streaming service ahead of the 2026-27 NHL season. The multi-year agreement will give fans across the Predators’ local territory access to every locally carried game through a dedicated streaming platform, complementing the club’s new over-the-air television agreement with Scripps Sports. Together, the deals establish a new local-distribution model for the franchise, pairing free broadcast television with a direct-to-consumer option for fans who prefer to stream. “This new streaming service will give our fans a direct connection to the team, on their terms,” says Bill Wickett, EVP and CMO, Nashville Predators . “Smashville is one of the most passionate fan bases in the league, and they deserve the flexibility to watch anytime, anywhere, on whatever device they use most. This is just one more way we’re investing in how we connect with our fans.” The yet-to-be-named service will feature live games, full-game replays, highlights, and original Predators programming. At launch, it is expected to be available on the web as well as iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku TV, Fire TV, and Android TV. Pricing and trial information will be announced closer to the start of the season. For ViewLift, the deal adds another NHL club to a growing portfolio of team- and network-owned streaming services. According to the company, its technology now supports 18 U.S. professional sports teams and six regional sports networks. The agreement also comes just days after DAZN completed its acquisition of ViewLift, a move designed to expand DAZN’s technology business alongside its consumer-facing sports platform. ViewLift has specialized in powering branded DTC services for teams, leagues, and networks that want to retain ownership of the fan experience while outsourcing the underlying streaming infrastructure. “Nashville is a hockey town with one of the most engaged fan bases in the league, and this alliance reflects that,” says Rick Allen, CEO, ViewLift . “We’re proud to become the Predators’ streaming partner, giving fans in this market full coverage of the team, no matter how they choose to watch.” Allen noted that Nashville represents ViewLift’s fourth NHL team working in conjunction with Scripps Sports on local distribution. On the linear side, Scripps Sports will carry Predators games this season on The Spot – Nashville 28, giving the club a broad over-the-air presence in its home market. The new DTC service will serve as the digital counterpart to that package. The approach reflects a broader shift taking place across local sports media as clubs increasingly move away from relying exclusively on the traditional regional-sports-network model. In its place, teams are assembling more flexible combinations of broadcast television and direct-to-consumer streaming designed to maximize reach while maintaining a direct relationship with their fan bases.
