BayVanguard bought a Brewers Hill sports bar property owned by a former NBA player for the starting bid of $250,000 at a foreclosure auction on Friday, the auctioneer, A.J. Billig & Co., confirmed to The Baltimore Sun The property of So Baltimore Sports Bar and Lounge, owned by Baltimore native and former Atlanta Hawks guard Malcolm Delaney, was foreclosed on by the bank over a $350,000 loan, according to court records. Delaney’s LLC also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April, according to court records. The two-story corner tavern, located at 3734 Fleet Street, was sold “as is,” according to the listing from auctioneers A.J. Billig & Co. The 22,170-square-foot building was built in 1920. Delaney bought the property through his LLC for $500,000 in 2021, according to property records. The bar opened a year later. It’s unclear whether the bar will remain open following the auction. Delaney and his attorney did not respond to The Sun’s request for comment. The bank’s special assets officer declined to comment. About 10 people attended the auction. The initial listing said a walkthrough would be available before the auction, but one of the building’s borrowers did not allow potential buyers to see inside before Friday’s auction. Neighbors protested So Baltimore’s 2025 liquor license renewal, citing noise from live entertainment and crowds that spilled outside the bar. The business was fined twice for unauthorized live entertainment, according to 2025 liquor board hearing records. Brewers Hill Neighbors, a community association, had no comment regarding the auction. Have a news tip? Contact Nicole Pilsbury at npilsbury@baltsun.com .
