Gage Roads locks in Optus Stadium beer rights until 2032 Eat & Drink News Home > News > Gage Roads locks in Optus Stadium beer rights until 2032 By Troy Mutton Published Sep 2 Share Earlier this year we reported that the beer rights at Optus Stadium could be up for grabs from 2027, with Gage Roads’ long-running supply deal approaching its end. Well, that question was answered earlier today: the WA brewer is sticking around. Gage Roads Brewing Co has secured a five-year extension to its exclusive beer and cider supply agreement with Optus Stadium, taking the partnership right through to the end of 2032. The Fremantle-founded brewer has supplied the stadium since it opened in 2018, after winning the contract back in 2017, with more than 16.6 million beers and ciders poured across AFL games, Test cricket, international football and some of Perth’s biggest concerts since then. The new deal was awarded by stadium operator VenuesLive and will keep Gage Roads beers, along with Matso’s products, flowing at the venue for another five years beyond the current agreement. Gage Roads Managing Director John Hoedemaker said the stadium had played an important role in growing the company into one of WA’s most recognisable beer brands. “We could not be prouder. Optus Stadium has been an incredible platform for Gage Roads, helping us showcase proudly Western Australian brands to millions of fans and visitors,” he said. Indeed, the brewery has grown substantially since first securing the stadium contract, with group sales volume increasing from 12.8 million litres to 30.8 million litres and revenue climbing from $33.2 million to $127.2 million. The State Government says parent company Good Drinks Australia now generates an estimated $147 million in annual economic activity in WA, spanning agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, distribution and hospitality. Optus Stadium CEO Mike McKenna said Gage Roads and Matso’s had become popular with both locals and visitors since the venue opened. “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Gage Roads and look forward to working together to keep bringing great Western Australian products and experiences to fans at Optus Stadium,” he said. The news comes on the eve on arguably the biggest month of AFL games in the stadium’s lifetime, as the Fremantle Dockers embark on a finals campaign as premiership favourites. It means no matter what, there’ll be two finals games played at the stadium over the next few weeks, when they’re played depending on the outcome of Thursday’s game against the Hawks.
