Basketball Australia and Pixellot partner to launch HoopsTV nationwide HoopsTV, a new player-first platform set to be a central destination for community game content. news 13 Oct 2026 Read time: 2 min --> Basketball Australia has partnered with global sports technology provider Pixellot to make community basketball more connected, more accessible and better supported across the country. The exclusive partnership represents a major step towards a player-first and digitally enabled future for the sport, while establishing greater national consistency and strengthening controls around participant privacy and safeguarding. The flagship of this project is HoopsTV – expected to launch to participating local Associations in November. Developed by Pixellot in partnership with Basketball Australia, the new platform will provide a central destination for game footage, replays, highlights and other personalised basketball content. Game footage captured through participating venues will progressively integrate with the new platform, aiming to cover over 400,000 games annually across 1000 venues. Today, video technology and game recording are already widely used across basketball venues and competitions through venue cameras, mobile phones and a range of locally managed systems. These arrangements vary considerably across the sport and do not currently operate within a single, national framework. Moving to a more consistent national approach through HoopsTV provides an opportunity to improve the video experience for participants, with clearer access, oversight and privacy controls. --> Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven said the partnership represented an important step in the sport’s broader digital transformation. “This partnership is about building a more connected and digitally enabled future for our game,” Scriven said. “For players and families, easier access to game footage creates more opportunities to review performance, learn and relive the moments that matter. HoopsTV gives us the opportunity to make that experience more consistent and accessible, while strengthening privacy, safeguarding and oversight. “The value of video extends well beyond watching games back. It can support player and coach development, officiating, integrity and disciplinary processes, while helping families and communities stay connected to basketball.” Pixellot AU Chief Commercial Officer Dean Anglin said the partnership aimed to better connect the game at grassroots and community level. ‘We are proud to be partnering with Basketball Australia to bring this national digital ecosystem to life,” Anglin said. “This partnership aligns with the Pixellot global vision for every athlete to be seen, celebrated and remembered. The application will provide community players with greater opportunities to watch their games, learn from them and enjoy their basketball moments in a way that has traditionally been easier to provide at higher levels of the sport.” “Working alongside Basketball Australia and the State and Territories, we're excited to be building something that genuinely serves participants and the game from the grassroots up.” Participant privacy and safeguarding protections have been developed as part of the national model and remain a key priority for Basketball Australia and the State and Territory Associations. Through Hoops TV, community game footage will be accessed through restricted, authenticated accounts rather than being publicly available. Players and coaches involved in a fixture will be able to access relevant footage, with parents and guardians managing access for dependent participants through the Account Holder linked to their registration. Participants will also have separate privacy choices relating to identification and filming, including the ability to opt-out of being filmed. The platform will not use facial recognition technology to identify participants. Basketball Australia is developing nationally consistent privacy information and participant guidance to ensure players and families understand when recording may occur, who can access footage and the privacy choices available to them. A global leader in sports video technology, Pixellot has deployed close to 40,000 cameras globally and produced more than five million games. Its technology is FIBA-approved for basketball use and approved for use within NBL1 competitions. Basketball Australia, Pixellot, State and Territory Associations and participating local Associations will progressively implement the national video capture approach as venue and local readiness is confirmed.
