Hudl × Ferdinand Collective: This Is Just the Beginning

Hudl has partnered with the Ferdinand Collective, the youth development charity founded by Anton and Rio Ferdinand, to provide grassroots academies with Hudl’s professional-grade video analysis cameras and tools. The deal aims to widen access to the same technology used by professional clubs so coaches can better develop players aged about 8–16 and help reduce the “postcode lottery” in talent identification and development.

Football changed the Ferdinands' lives - now they're changing the lives of the next generation. Learn about our new partnership with the Ferdinand Collective Hudl × Ferdinand Collective: This Is Just the Beginning Football has always had the power to change lives. The Ferdinand family is living proof of it. Anton Ferdinand and his brother Rio grew up in Peckham, South-East London - a place where football wasn't just sport, it was identity. It was community. It was a way through. Their father, Julian, taught the brothers that nothing worth having comes for free, and that the ceiling is always there to be kicked through. This belief became the foundation of the Ferdinand Collective. And today, it's the foundation of a new partnership with Hudl, aimed at empowering youth footballers, no matter their background. Person first, player second: Over the course of his career, Anton’s best managers taught him this valuable lesson. The Ferdinand Collective seeks to deliver youth player development, along with an understanding that there is life beyond the pitch. “Growing up, football gave us somewhere to belong. It gave us something to believe in. Not every kid has that. Not every kid is seen,” Anton reflected from our interview location at Parsloes Park in Dagenham, with a number of his Academy kids buzzing around the turf behind us. The Ferdinand Collective exists to change that visibility. Since its founding, the Collective has given hundreds of young players - aged 8 to 16 - access to high-quality coaching, a genuine community, and an environment that invests in not just the football player, but the person as a whole. Now, it's giving them access to something else. “We give the players the tools, the environment, the coaching, not just to be footballers, but to be good people. And that's why we partnered with Hudl. Because we want to give our coaches and our players the best." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Hudl FC (@hudlfc) The partnership puts Hudl's video analysis technology - the same used by fully-professional academies - directly into the hands of grassroots coaches and players. "The same camera, the same technology, the same data that professional clubs use,” explained Anton. “But we're using it here, at grassroots level. The Ferdinand Collective believes every kid deserves a chance. Hudl believes the same thing. This is why this partnership makes sense - and we're just getting started. Because the next generation deserves better than a postcode lottery. Every kid, wherever they're from, whatever their background, deserves to be seen, coached, and given the tools to go as far as their ambition will take them. That's what the Ferdinand Collective has always stood for. That's what this partnership is built to deliver.” The Ferdinand Collective have Hudl’s automatic football cameras providing professional-quality footage to their youth academies. In the coming weeks, we'll be releasing “The Story”: a five-chapter short film shot pitchside at the Ferdinand Collective's Performance Camp, with Anton Ferdinand, CEO Vicky Woolnough, and three of the academy's own players telling the full story of what the Collective is, why it exists, and where it's heading. This is just the beginning. Hudl partners with teams, clubs, and organisations at every level of sport to give athletes the tools to see themselves clearly and improve.
