ADVERTISEMENT NAB 2026: Cobalt Digital and SineSix Media integrate audio description technology for broadcast workflows By: Heather McLean, Editor, SVG Europe • Posted on: April 18, 2026 • 2 minute read Cobalt Digital and SineSix Media have announced a partnership to integrate the vocalVision audio description solution with the Cobalt 9922 frame synchronizer family. The integration is designed to provide real-time audio descriptions of on-screen graphics within broadcast workflows, with demonstrations scheduled for the upcoming NAB Show. The collaboration aims to assist broadcasters in meeting accessibility requirements by providing automated narration of graphical content, such as lower-third headlines, weather radar maps, and election or sports data. By combining visual and audio accessibility tools into a unified workflow, the system allows visual information to be processed as audio. The integrated workflow allows broadcasters to trigger audio description events through the SineSix Watchman API or a browser-based interface. Operators can manage alerts manually, on scheduled intervals, or via automated triggers. The system utilizes Cobalt’s +TTS functionality to convert text to speech and insert the audio into the program stream. Additionally, the system supports Cobalt’s +EAS for emergency alert delivery and +LOGO for on-screen graphic insertion. Further capabilities include AI-assisted image description for weather maps, customizable pronunciation dictionaries, and multilingual support.
