The agreement includes free-to-air coverage in Spain. One match per matchday will be available free, while a national broadcaster will be offered a package including every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final. Netflix has yet to name its broadcast partner. The streaming service plans pre-match, half-time and post-match programmes with a Spanish perspective, alongside daily highlights and programming ahead of the tournament. It’s a major escalation in the acquisition of sports in Europe and will not go unnoticed given that Spain will co-host the centenary competition with Portugal and Morocco, with commemorative matches also taking place in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Financial terms have not been disclosed. The acquisition extends Netflix’s relationship with FIFA, which includes rights to the 2027 and 2031 Women’s World Cups in the United States and Canada.
