The first prize was awarded to Italian architectural studio VG13 Architects Studio Associato , led by architects Tommaso Fantini and Alberto Rossi. The results of the competition for the conceptual design of the SRC Svetice–Maksimir Stadium were presented in Zagreb on Thursday by members of the judging panel. The competition was open from 20 March to 17 July 2026 and was organised by the Croatian Government and the City of Zagreb in cooperation with the Zagreb Society of Architects (DAZ), which conducted the competition. Five entries in total received awards, with the Italian proposal taking first place. The results were presented by DAZ president Ana Boljar, representing the competition organiser, judging panel president Toma Plejić, and panel members including GNK Dinamo president Zvonimir Boban, Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina. Following the decision, the authors of the winning proposal will be contracted to prepare the conceptual, main and detailed design documentation for the new stadium. This work will form the basis for obtaining the necessary location and construction permits and preparing the documentation required for a future public procurement procedure for construction. According to the announced timetable, the removal of the existing stadium is expected to begin in 2027 , while construction of the new stadium is scheduled to start in 2029 .
