Industry Brands Industry Watch Articles News Events Sports PUMA Project3 Comes to India to Support Runners Chasing World Marathon Majors By EVENTFAQS Bureau - September 25, 2026 Facebook Twitter Pinterest WhatsApp PUMA is bringing its global Project3 running programme to India for the first time, giving the country’s growing community of marathon runners an opportunity to train as PUMA athletes and pursue new personal bests. The India edition will support 50 runners through a 12-week professional-level training programme, with the goal of helping them improve their marathon performance at the Mumbai Marathon in January 2027. From the selected cohort, five runners will earn the opportunity to compete in the London Marathon in April 2027. Selected runners will receive access to PUMA’s latest performance products, including the Deviate NITRO™ Elite 4 and Fast-R NITRO™ Elite 3, along with training guidance and expert support across nutrition and recovery. Ram Sridharan, Managing Director, PUMA India said, “There is a clear shift in the ambition of runners in India. More runners are chasing faster times and personal bests, and looking at the world’s major marathons as their next challenge. Project3 is about backing that ambition with the kind of support that can make a real difference to performance. We want to help build a stronger pool of Indian marathoners ready to compete at that level, and these first 50 runners are where that journey begins.” India’s Growing Marathon Ambition India’s participation in major global marathons has grown considerably over the past decade. According to Geeks On Feet, an independent running magazine, 1,673 Indian runners participated across the six World Major Marathons in 2025, compared with 459 in 2014. The performance benchmark has also been rising, with more than 500 Indian runners recording marathon times under three hours in 2025. For Project3 India, PUMA has partnered with YOSKA as its Training and Technology Partner. YOSKA Founder & CEO and long-distance runner Deepak Raj will serve as Head Coach for the programme. Speaking on Project3, Deepak said “India’s running community is evolving rapidly, and so is the ambition of its runners. There is no shortage of talent or aspiration, and PUMA Project3 creates an opportunity to give ambitious Indian runners the support, expertise, and belief to take that ambition to the world stage. Over the next few months, I am looking forward to working with all of the runners, helping them unlock their potential and seeing how far they can push themselves. Ultimately, this is about raising the bar for performance running in India and creating an opportunity for Indian runners to compete with the best in the world.” Ultrahuman has also joined Project3 India as the Wearables Partner, providing performance-focused support to runners throughout their preparation. Project3 Expands to India Launched in 2025, Project3 has supported close to 1,000 runners globally as they work towards new personal bests. The programme is designed to give sub-elite runners an experience closer to that of elite athletes, with access to performance resources, nutrition, recovery and technology, along with specialist guidance. For its India debut, the programme will focus on runners from Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Applicants must hold a valid 2027 Mumbai Marathon race bib or race entry and have an existing marathon personal best of 3:15–3:45 for male applicants and/or 3:30–4:00 for female applicants. Applications opened on September 24 and will close on October 25, 2026.
