Farner founded Ronin Capital Partners and once led Rocket Companies as CEO. He put money into the team through Ronin Sports & Entertainment Group. The amount wasn't shared. Funds will go toward building the team's $150 million stadium and backing a $200 million mixed-use project in southwest Detroit. Farner joined the DCFC Holdings board. This investment will help construct AlumniFi Field, a 15,000-seat soccer stadium. It opens before the 2028 USL Championship season starts. "Detroit's been a large part of my life for many decades, and I'm excited to support DCFC's growth here in our hometown," Farner said according to DBusiness . "What the founders, supporters, and ownership group has built is extraordinary: a passionate supporter culture, a deep connection to the community, and a bold vision for the club's future." The stadium rises where Southwest Detroit Hospital once stood. Plans call for a 421-space parking garage. A 104-unit residential building will include 76 affordable housing units. Detroit City Council gave the green light after a community benefits process. The new venue has nearly 6,000 seat deposits locked in. The project should generate more than 1,030 construction jobs and 140 full-time positions. Ronin Sports & Entertainment Group has put money into Student Athlete Score, DUPR pickleball ratings, TGL team golf, and Motor City Golf Club. Farner spent 27 years building Quicken Loans and Rocket Cos. into a leading financial services organization. He left to start Ronin. Five Detroiters founded the club in 2012. It now runs men's and women's teams, an indoor facility called Detroit City Fieldhouse, and a sports bar named City Clubhouse.
