ADVERTISEMENT Victory+ Turns to Creator Economy, Bringing In Popular Women’s Sports Influencer “Coach Jackie J” to Host Live NWSL Alt-Cast By: Brandon Costa, Director of Digital • Posted on: March 29, 2026 • 7 minute read ADVERTISEMENT Cloud-based production, real-time engagement, and creator-driven storytelling aim to reshape the relationship between social media stars and live sports broadcasts Victory+ is rolling out a new approach to its live sports coverage this weekend, producing a creator-led alternate broadcast to accompany its NWSL Sunday Night Soccer matchup. The fully synchronized “alt-cast” will be hosted by content creator Coach Jackie J alongside former NWSL goalkeeper Brittany Wilson . Available alongside the traditional game feed on the free, ad-supported streaming platform, the presentation blends live match coverage with real-time commentary from creators, influencers, and digital-native storytellers — the same voices that have helped fuel the growth of women’s sports across social platforms. For Victory+, the effort is less about offering a secondary screen and more about redefining who gets to be part of the broadcast itself. “What we wanted to do is create a broadcast that taps into those voices and gives them a platform to speak to their fans,” says Alex Cooper, VP, Creator Content & Audience Development, Victory+ . At its core, the initiative places creator-driven voices directly inside the live game experience — not as an extension of coverage, but as a central part of how the match is presented. @jcubedhax IM SO EXCITED @Brittany Wilson Isenhour !! Watch Sunday Night Soccer for freeeee on @Victory+ #womenssports #woso #nwsl ♬ Stories 2 – Danilo Stankovic Bridging Creator Culture and Live Broadcast The concept is rooted in how women’s sports — and soccer in particular — have grown in the digital era. “Women’s sports has been thriving because of these micro communities and these voices that tell you about the players, that get you to relate to them,” Cooper says. “That’s what’s actually driven the fandom.” Rather than layering that ecosystem on top of a traditional broadcast, Victory+ is building around it. “When we decided to really double down on women’s sports and become the home of NWSL Sunday Night Soccer, we wanted to make sure that that’s also presented in a way that meets younger fans in the way that we were seeing they wanted to be presented to,” she adds. For Coach Jackie J, whose content has helped educate and engage fans across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and more, the opportunity represents both access and evolution. “Victory+, a free sports streaming app, getting the rights to NWSL Sunday Night Soccer is a huge win for the sport,” she says. “I’ve always said that women’s sports should be accessible to everyone. And women’s sports media should think outside of the box. That’s why I’m so excited to partner with Victory+ for this alt-cast alongside athletes like Brittany Wilson. Honestly, being part of this is a dream come true for me.” Cloud Production, Social Entry Points From a production standpoint, the alt-cast is built for flexibility. The live NWSL match feed is ingested into a cloud-based workflow, while Coach Jackie and Wilson contribute remotely, creating a presentation that pairs the game feed with live creator commentary in a split-screen layout. The design draws comparisons to formats like the ManningCast, but Victory+ is layering in a deeper level of social integration. While the alt-cast runs inside the Victory+ app, the creators will simultaneously be live on TikTok, interacting directly with fans and driving discovery back to the platform. “Fans can ask them questions, they can participate, and Brittany and Jackie can actually respond to them,” Cooper says. “When people discover this, they’re discovering it on Brittany and Jackie’s socials.” “The first thing I’m looking for [in a creator] is…who is truly engaged in that community and offering real information. It’s not just about fun and entertaining content. It’s about meaningful content that is driving narrative.” – Alex Cooper, VP, Creator Content & Audience Development, Victory+ That dual experience — social interaction paired with a frictionless viewing environment — is a defining piece of the strategy. “We’re going to focus on TikTok for this one because NWSL, their audience is really exploding on TikTok,” she adds. “It’s a social entry point.” Just as important is synchronization. Unlike traditional watch-along formats, which can suffer from latency between broadcast and commentary, Victory+ is aiming for a fully aligned experience. “With us, it is fully interactive and fully synced,” Cooper says. “You’re watching the game and the creators together without delays.” Identifying Creators as On-Air Talent For Cooper and her team, integrating creators into live production requires a different approach than traditional talent development. The transition from short-form video to long-form live coverage is not automatic. “The first thing I’m looking for is genuinely who is truly engaged in that community and offering real information about the community,” she says. “It’s not just about fun and entertaining content. It’s about meaningful content that is driving narrative.” Victory+ tests talent in advance, evaluating comfort level, improvisation skills, and ability to sustain conversation in a live environment. “When creators see this as something that they aspire to do and something that they want, it shows through,” Cooper says. “You end up getting a strong production because audiences can feel it.” A key contributor to the process is Meg Schmidt, Director, Creator Partnerships for Victory+ , who does everything from identifying and developing a talent pool of creators to negotiating partnerships with them. “She’s got an incredible eye for identifying exactly the right talent for what we’re trying to build,” Cooper notes. An Iterative Model for the Future Victory+ sees this alt-cast as a starting point, not an endpoint. “We definitely want to do more,” Cooper says, noting there are plans in place do produce more altcasts like this with Coach Jackie specifically this season. “The NWSL is such a perfect example where they have so many micro niche communities, and we really want to tap into them and provide an experience that is meaningful to all of them.” The company is already planning additional alt-casts and exploring how the model can scale across other sports properties, with adjustments tailored to each audience. Equally important is how fans respond after the broadcast. “I do really look for comments and engagement,” Cooper says. “What’s the conversation? What are people naturally posting about it? It’s a very much iterative production process.” For Neil Gruninger, President & CEO, A Parent Media Co. , the broader vision is rooted in accessibility and connection. “Going FREE with Victory+ is about putting fans first,” he says. “We’re removing barriers to access while giving clubs the tools with enhanced experiences to build deeper, more meaningful connections with their audiences. Together, we can grow the game and give back to the fans who make it all possible. From Creator Hub to Live Integration This alt-cast is the most visible extension of a broader creator strategy already embedded within Victory+. The platform’s NWSL Content Hub aggregates content from a growing roster of creators — including Coach Jackie J, Kelley O’Hara , “ Sports with Logs ,” Brittany Wilson Isenhour , Emma Oldfield , and Alfardy — while also commissioning original content tied to league storylines and fan interest. Victory+ is also enabling near real-time workflows, providing creators with live highlights to react to and analyze as matches unfold. “We’ll double down on a moment and actually commission creators to make custom content around it,” Cooper says. “The most exciting piece of it is the alt-cast, but it’s equally exciting to allow creators to react in real time.” The goal, as outlined in the company’s positioning, is to “break down the walls between creator culture and live sports” — shifting the viewing experience closer to a live, participatory environment.
