The Nature Conservancy has launched the Microfiber Action Alliance with Nike, Patagonia, Under Armour, Lululemon, Cotopaxi, and REI Co-op to reduce microfiber pollution across the textile supply chain. The coalition will build on existing research to identify practical, evidence-based solutions and share lessons across the apparel industry. Its long-term aim is a scalable roadmap to protect freshwater, oceans, wildlife, and communities; microfibers from both synthetic and natural textiles are estimated to make up more than 30 percent of ocean microplastics.
