St. George council to vote on economic district to fund sports complex

ST. GEORGE — The St. George City Council is set to vote on an economic development district that could fund a new sports complex on Tuesday. The district, which would be just over 55-acres, would be located around Antioch Road and Airline Highway. Earlier this year, BREC presented plans for a large baseball complex, sports fields, a walking trail and a recreation center. Mayor Dustin Yates said in September that the project could help the city attract a new charter school. "We're in the very beginning phases in the process of bringing an indoor sports facility here and a community space," said Yates, "and that's part of that partnership right. It's not just one or the other. They're kind of working in tandem."
