Ticketmaster Transfer Problems Hit Fans Across U.S. as Support Team Works Through Backlog Home » Ticketmaster Transfer Problems Hit Fans Across U.S. as Support Team Works Through Backlog By Dave Clark 3 hours ago A fan holds their mobile phone up to a scanner outside of an event, illustrating the Ticketmaster Safetix system Ticketmaster ticket-transfer problems left fans scrambling to access mobile tickets for concerts and other events across the U.S. Friday night, with the company’s official support account eventually acknowledging the issue and continuing to work through pending transfers into Saturday. Reports from customers appeared across multiple cities and unrelated events Friday, describing transfers that could not be accepted, tickets stuck between accounts and Ticketmaster screens displaying a blunt error message: “Transfer Unavailable.” Social-media posts and Reddit threads reviewed by TicketNews referenced apparent transfer problems involving fans attending Harry Styles at Madison Square Garden in New York, Bruno Mars at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Teddy Swims at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Weezer at Capital One Arena in Washington, and BUNT. at Emo’s in Austin. Additional complaints Saturday involved transfers for Metallica at Sphere in Las Vegas and the Miami-Clemson football game in South Carolina, along with other customers who did not identify their event publicly. TicketNews has not independently verified that every reported problem stemmed from the same technical issue, but the complaints spanned unrelated events, venues and markets across the country. Advertisement Ticketmaster did not appear to issue a broad public incident announcement Friday night. But its verified Ticketmaster Fan Support account began responding directly to affected customers on X. When one customer said she could not accept tickets that had been transferred to her, Ticketmaster Fan Support responded: “This is on our radar and our team is looking into it. We will update you soon.” Advertisement By Saturday, the company’s support account was providing considerably more specific information. “As of 12pm ET/9am PT, the majority of pending transfers are being processed within 60 minutes, most completing in under 10 minutes,” Ticketmaster Fan Support told multiple customers. For customers with events Saturday whose transfers had still not arrived, Ticketmaster instructed them to visit the venue box office with their confirmation information, telling one customer that the box office would have a record of the transfer. TicketNews has requested additional information from Ticketmaster and multiple venues about the cause, duration and scope of the problems. As of publication, Ticketmaster had not provided TicketNews with a response. Fans Report the Same Transfer Failure Across Multiple Events The complaints were not limited to one artist, venue or market. One customer posted a screenshot showing Ticketmaster displaying “Transfer Unavailable” and telling the recipient, “Unfortunately, Transfer is not available at the moment. Please try again later.” Another fan trying to attend BUNT. at Emo’s in Austin said doors were opening in 30 minutes and the group still could not accept its transferred tickets. Ticketmaster Fan Support instructed the customer to bring confirmation details and the payment method used for the purchase to the venue box office. Similar complaints appeared on Reddit. In one r/Ticketmaster discussion about failed transfers , a customer trying to attend the Oct. 2 Harry Styles concert at Madison Square Garden said the transfer would not complete with the show approaching. The user later said the MSG box office was aware of the Ticketmaster problem. A separate thread involving Bruno Mars at SoFi Stadium described a ticket that could neither be transferred to the intended recipient nor canceled so the transfer could be attempted again. Other commenters described similar problems accepting tickets purchased through secondary marketplaces. Another Reddit thread documenting the “Transfer Unavailable” problem included users who said purchases originating through other marketplaces ultimately could not be delivered because the underlying Ticketmaster transfer had not completed. That fact is relevant across the broader ticket market. A consumer can purchase a resale ticket from another marketplace while still depending on Ticketmaster’s transfer infrastructure to move the underlying ticket from the seller’s account to the buyer. This is an issue that many resale platforms have surfaced as a major competition issue as part of the ongoing antitrust trial and settlement process that has unfolded over the last several years, most recently during the public comment period for the DOJ’s settlement agreement with Ticketmaster/Live Nation in its antitrust trial. Ticketmaster’s Response Continued Into Saturday The public messages from Ticketmaster Fan Support show an apparent progression in the company’s response. Initially, customers were told that the transfer problem was “on our radar” and being investigated. By Saturday, Ticketmaster was telling users that pending transfers were actively being processed and supplying estimates for how long completion was taking. In another reply, the company said, “Pending transfers are still being processed with priority for today’s events.” Customers with same-day events were told that if a confirmed transfer still had not arrived, they should visit the venue box office with their confirmation details. Ticketmaster said box offices would have records of the transfers and could provide further assistance. Complaints nevertheless continued Saturday morning. One user told Ticketmaster that a friend had experienced the problem the previous night before posting a screenshot showing the same “Transfer Unavailable” message Saturday. Others sought help for upcoming events, including Saturday’s Metallica performance at Sphere in Las Vegas. Third-party outage-monitoring services also displayed geographically dispersed complaints concerning Ticketmaster transfers. The reports do not independently establish the technical scope of the incident, but users described remarkably similar symptoms: transfers that could not be accepted, transactions stuck in pending status and customers unable to cancel transfers that had not completed. Friedman Says Ticketmaster Executives Were Updating Him Overnight Ticket Talk Network co-founder Scott Friedman was among the ticket-industry voices publicly flagging the problem as it unfolded Friday evening. Friedman said his organization was being “hammered” with complaints from fans unable to accept Ticketmaster transfers for events that night. He subsequently posted that he was hearing of problems outside Madison Square Garden ahead of the Harry Styles concert and called on venue box offices to assist customers unable to access their tickets. Later Friday, Friedman reported that conditions were improving and that fans were getting into events around the country, while cautioning that not every case had been resolved. Saturday morning brought a more significant claim. In a post shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, Friedman wrote that “@Ticketmaster execs updated me over night.” . @Ticketmaster execs updated me over night. ⬇️⬇️ “We managed to clear out all the transfers at the box office tonight. And should have resolved just about all of tomorrow’s not 100% but close” — Scott Friedman 🎟️ (@ScottFriedman3) October 3, 2026 He attributed a message to Ticketmaster executives saying they had “managed to clear out all the transfers at the box office” Friday night and expected nearly all of the following day’s problems to be resolved. TicketNews has asked Friedman for additional information about those communications. His account of box-office remediation is also consistent with Ticketmaster Fan Support’s subsequent public instructions telling customers with unresolved same-day transfers to bring confirmation information to venue box offices. Ticketmaster has not yet told TicketNews whether Friedman accurately characterized its internal response. Transfer Failures Can Extend Beyond Ticketmaster Sales Friday’s problems also illustrate how a Ticketmaster transfer failure can affect transactions that did not originate on Ticketmaster itself. Many resale tickets purchased through competing marketplaces are ultimately delivered through the primary issuer’s transfer infrastructure. If that transfer does not complete, a buyer may be left without access even when the resale marketplace has already processed the transaction. TicketNews reported a similar dynamic during Super Bowl LVI in 2022 , when a Ticketmaster transfer failure prevented some last-minute buyers from obtaining tickets that had already been purchased, including transactions originating through other marketplaces. Ticketmaster also faced a separate round of technical complaints in July , when customers reported problems accessing the company’s website and app. What caused the Oct. 2 transfer problem remains unclear. Ticketmaster has not publicly disclosed when the incident began, how many transfers or events were affected, whether the problem involved one component of its transfer infrastructure or a broader system issue, or how many customers ultimately missed part or all of an event because their tickets did not arrive. The company’s Saturday support messages indicate the backlog was being reduced, while also confirming that pending transfers remained an active issue well after the first complaints surfaced Friday. TicketNews will update this story if Ticketmaster, affected venues or other sources provide additional information.
