USA Gymnastics World Championships Selection Show Presented by Tampax will air Sunday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. ET (new time!) on NBC and Peacock . The one-hour, feature-style special provides an exclusive and in-depth look at USA Gymnastics’ Women’s World Championships Team Selection Event, held Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Crossville, Tennessee. With the U.S. roster now set for the World Championships October 17-25 in Rotterdam, fans will get a behind-the scenes look at camp through the lens of NBC cameras. But what happens BEHIND-behind the scenes? From arrival videos to the final photoshoot, below is a peek inside camp and behind the creative curtain of the 2026 USA Gymnastics World Championships Selection Show Presented by Tampax . Although camp runs for just over 48 hours – Tuesday evening through Thursday afternoon – there are nearly five full days of set-up, training, and meetings that make up the week. Training begins Tuesday night, with competition Wednesday and Thursday, but USA Gymnastics staff and the NBC crew arrive as early as Sunday to prepare. The goal is to have the crew be as integrated as possible, with the least disruption to athletes and their routines. At the same time, having television and members of the media at camp helps prepare athletes and coaches for the intense visibility and media spotlight they’ll be under in the Netherlands – which will only shine brighter as LA28 approaches. Prior to camp starting, an interview cabin is decked out with lights, microphones, a stationary HD camera and a white background. A second location in one of the training gyms provides a second set for pre-camp content capture. On Tuesday morning, athletes take their turns in the interview seat for background conversations to set the stage for the upcoming competition. They then head over to the second gym for some close-up, specialty shots and videos. View this post on Instagram A post shared by USA Gymnastics (@usagym) After a lunch break and some down time, they get suited up for a two-hour training, with cameras rolling silently as athletes stretch, warm-up and train. Camera operators move around the gym as boom mics hover over casual conversations; a body-rigged camera captures athletes cheering on teammates during floor routines. Producers sit in an alcove nearby, reviewing the footage that is being recorded in real time. Training concludes for the day in the early evening, followed by dinner, free time, and lights-out. Both athletes and cameras retire to recharge their batteries for the next day. Wednesday’s competition day begins with an early morning training. While there are still smiles and jokes, there is a feeling of increased focus. After the light practice session, a surprise visit from some highland cows, and lunch, gymnasts return to their cabins to rest prior to competition. All 12 athletes come back to the gym mid-afternoon in their National Team attire and listen to a quick message from the USA Gymnastics High Performance team to kick off warmups and competition. Just an hour later, the selection event is in full swing. Four rotations. 48 routines. Six cameras. Over 50 observers, including a group of young gymnasts from the area and their families, and four members of the gymnastics media make up the audience who cheer on the athletes and silently observe the action. At the end of it all, Claire Pease and Charleigh Bullock become the first two named to the five-athlete team, as automatic qualifiers based on their scores at camp and the 2026 Xfinity U.S. Gymnastics Championships. When their names are called, Pease reacts with a moment of stunned happiness, while Bullock has a look of absolute shock. Their teammates offer congratulations, followed by interviews with both NBC and the media who are on hand. With two out of five team members named, Day 2 kicks off bright and early at 7 a.m. The camera crew is silently present at breakfast and capture all arrivals to the gym before catching up with Pease and Bullock as they stretch out. Then the second day of competition begins. Thursday’s event is straight to the point, with gymnasts only warming up their designated apparatus and getting right into their routines. They are completely focused on securing one of the last three team spots for Rotterdam. Once competition wraps, everyone breaks for lunch and the selection committee meets for just over an hour. After which, the final names for the team roster are revealed: Skye Blakely , Reese Esponda , and Hezly Rivera . With Dulcy Caylor joining the roster as a replacement athlete, the 2026 World Championships Team Presented by Xfinity is officially announced. Cameras float around the gym to catch the surprise, happiness, and relief. Two days of anticipation eases on a Thursday afternoon. The World Championships team members open their competition gear for Rotterdam, as well as care packages from USA Gymnastics partners. The final bit of fun starts in the secondary gym, where the team members pose in their new threads for an official USA Gymnastics photoshoot. The room is filled with music, laughing, poses and TikTok-making, led by Charleigh and Reese. It’s the last thing the camera crew will capture for the show before heading back east and editing the hour-long show together.
