Bengaluru: Macis Group of Companies is expanding its presence in the media sector with plans to launch five satellite News & Current Affairs channels across India, comprising four regional-language channels and a national English news channel. Founded by Chairman Madhaw Ciran, the group has commenced groundwork for the proposed news network, which will include channels in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, alongside a national English channel targeting audiences across India. The broadcast venture will be led by industry veteran S Divaakar, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. Divaakar brings 30 years of experience in media management and revenue leadership across leading television networks. In his new role, he will oversee the network’s strategic operations, talent acquisition, infrastructure development and national and international distribution. S Divaakar “The network will onboard professionals across editorial, engineering, digital, production and sales, with recruitment progressing alongside the development of studio facilities and regulatory approvals,” said S Divaakar, CEO, Macis Media India. “We are committed to building an AI enabled state of the art broadcast network powered by experienced professionals and innovative young talent,” he added. The proposed network is aimed at building a wider news presence across India through a combination of regional-language and national English news offerings. Macis Group also plans to distribute its content through national and international distribution networks. The project is currently progressing across infrastructure development, recruitment and regulatory approvals, with the channels moving towards their planned launch.
